We have pointed out before that atheism has led to the slaughter and death of more people than Christianity by far.
According to Dinesh D'Souza, those killed under Christian "regimes," (such as the Crusades, the Inquisition, Salem Witch Trials, etc., a period of hundreds of years) is only about 1 percent of the number killed under atheistic regimes such as Adolf Hitler, Mao, Joseph Stalin, and others in just a few decades!
But we don't need to look at history to see this fact, all we have to do is look at modern day, communist countries like China. Remember that behind communism is a firm, and forced, belief in atheism.
Ronald Reagan used to make fun of the Soviet's disbelief in God. Communism is based on the teachings and ideas
set forth by Karl Marx who was an atheist. The idea behind communism, socialism, and Marxism is that since there is no God, government is all that we have. Therefore, communist governments (against Marx's will I believe) are being run by ruthless dictators, and not by the common person as Marx had hoped.
Currently in China, the communist government has forced a limit on the parents to how many children that they can have. And, as we would expect from big government, it has fallen into corruption. Those who can afford the great fines, have more children. Those who cannot, loose their child. Each couple can only have 1 child in urban areas and only 2 in rural areas. So much for freedom! But then again, what do you expect from atheist?
China controls their population through abortion, infanticide, and other methods. Their goal is to end the life of those not pure enough. It sounds a lot like the Nazi's, and even a lot from the left in this country and in the West. Perhaps we're not much more different.
In America, and in the West in general, we are beginning to murder those whose quality of life will not be that great. Therefore, kids to be born to single moms who are still in school or still working out their career are aborted. Children who are handicapped (
such as Down Syndrome) are either aborted or infanticide are practiced. In fact, in the Netherlands, infanticide is so common that doctors practice it without informing the parents that that is what happened to their child!
Our culture is obsessed with death. A big part of that, I believe, is because we are suffocating freedom for the sake of socialism, liberalism, secularism, and big government. Whenever America was overwhelmingly religious and spiritual, freedom was the direct result of that belief. We believed that man was free and set apart by God as free, moral agents. Therefore, government must reflect personal autonomy. (Baptist were among the first to understand this through their belief in Justification by faith alone and the autonomy of the local church).
But as Christianity (true Christianity that is) and faithful, orthodox religion gets drowned out in the West, it is replaced with secularism, liberalism, socialism, and big government. And that is exactly what we should expect. Whenever God is removed from the equation, freedom must die. Why? Because one's primary source for morality is absent, therefore, morality is relative (sound familiar? It's the postmodern mantra: relativism).
If morality is relative, then there is no truth. If there is no truth, then nothing is wrong. Therefore, one must make it up, namely, government. Government can no longer trust it's citizens to be moral, for the source of morality is gone; that is, God. Therefore, laws must be passed, policemen must increase, and freedom must be smothered out.
God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?
To Neitzsche, God was dead because man had overcome Him and disproved Him, through science, the mind, the enlightenment, philosophy, etc. What Neitzche misses in this quote that as God died, so has freedom.
This is exactly what is happening in the West and America is no different. It seems that as secularism continues to take ahold of our schools, our courts, our governments, and our homes, people become less moral and we respond with bigger government. Therefore, freedom is slowly dying. Our founding fathers would be appalled.
If you don't believe me, then please explain to me why we have murdered so many of our own? Abortion kills millions of Americans (future tax payers I might add for all you big government liberals) each year (and we've been doing it legally for over 30 years). Euthanasia kills thousands (if not millions) more with cases like Terry Schiavo and others. Infanticide is increasing. Not to mention the death of millions of human embryos discarded like trash. As a whole, we have become fascinated with death! What separates us from countries like China? Are we not doing the same?
I say all of this to point out that before long, we will be just like China and other communist countries of the present and of the past. Whenever secularism triumphs, socialism and the murder of freedom are inevitable. Now, we have an entire party (Democrats) and I believe, even remnants within the Republican party, are dedicated to the cause of socialism. They want to tell you what kind of light bulbs to use, what type of TVs to use, where you can and cannot (mostly cannot) smoke, what you can and cannot say (hate speech anyone?) and so many other things. They want to control your diet, your lifestyle, and your habits.
Freedom is dying everyday.
So, what's the solution? Return to the nation that our fathers founded. Persons like Reagan would be appalled to see socialism grow in this country with the support of political parties and the media elite. Our Founding Fathers would be appalled to see how many freedoms have been sacrificed. And we should all be appalled by the numbers of Americans murdered, all in the name of compassion and mercy.
Welcome to America of the next 100 years. Will the first century in this new millennium be the continual thriving of freedom in America and the West? Or will we instead adopt failed policies of past and present regimes in the hopes of economic equality (which never happens)? Will we continue to kill our own, suffocate our God-given freedoms, and abandon our nations heritage as the century continues? I dare say yes!
No wonder, "One Nation Under God," is such a critical phrase. The death of God is the death of freedom. The birth of atheism and secularism is the birth of carnage and oppression. We don't need to wait for the year 2100 to see this take place, we can look at our past and our present to see it happen and fail elsewhere and to see it begin to take place and fail here.
So we can criticise China all we want. But are we really that much different?
As Communist authorities in China make new efforts to enforce old laws, they call fresh attention to long-standing questions about the value of human life in their country of 1.3 billion people.
Since 1979, a “one-child” policy has restricted Chinese families to one child each in urban areas or at most two children in rural areas. Officials estimate some 400 million births have been obviated, but also say the sometimes-haphazard enforcement of these laws has “undermined social equality.” Wealthy citizens are often willing to pay heavy fines to have “extra” children.
Last year, 93,084 people in the Hubei province alone had more children than the law allowed. The government recently fined 1,678 of these people, stripped them of their government posts, or expelled them from the party.
Steven Mosher, President of the Population Research Institute told WoW that because the Chinese cultural ideal promotes “late marriage, few children, and quality children,” population restrictions create intense social pressure to breed “a better man and a better Chinese woman.” The dark nature of these idealizations manifests itself in late-term abortions, infanticide, and forced sterilization of the handicapped and mentally disabled. To Mosher, “Eugenics policy is part and parcel of the one-child policy.”
But with parents willing to pay a premium for more kids, Mosher blames the Chinese political structure for setting the price of life so cheaply: “There may be a lot of hostility on the lowest levels, but the policy is put in place by the highest and can only be undone by the highest levels.”
Mosher said undoing the policy isn’t likely: “The Chinese political party has so much political capital invested in this policy they are almost afraid to back off. It would undermine the legitimacy of the party.”
