Last night was the second debate between Republican Presidential hopefuls for 2012. I will not offer in any detail what I thought of the debate or who I thought won, but I will say that the format was unfortunate. I tweeted during the event that Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas spent at least an hour each in rebuttal. The story goes that at one point before rebutting Douglas, Lincoln told the audience to go home and eat because he needs more time to rebut his political opponent. The candidates last night were given 30 seconds. It is hard to lay out a political philosophy and provide real, clear answers with sound bytes. The American people need more than sound bytes and quick whit, what we need is to understand who we're voting for and what their political philosophy really is.
