2012 Presidential Debate 6: Republican Hopefuls Make Their Case

In what was probably the best debate thus far, the GOP contenders gathered together in Florida at the CNN Tea Party Debate.  Being that they were in Florida, the issue of social security was a major issue and Rick Perry's published comments in his book Fed Up!: Our Fight to Save America from Washington that social security is unconstitutional and a "ponzi scheme" was a hot topic.  Yet once again, the debate was against Perry and not against President Barack Obama. The early debates were all about Obama.  Either the candidates know that they need to start making moves before their money runs out and thus are going after the front runner or they have forgotten that though they are running against each other, they are ultimately running against the President.

The debate over the HPV vaccination and the executive order that Perry signed was a major issue again.  The debate over executive orders may be legitamate, but this is not a major, though controversial, issue nationally.

Romney did well in this debate and expect him to move up and Perry to move down in the polls.  Beyond that, I don't see Michelle Bachman gaining speed though she didn't hurt herself.  Perry has taken the gas out of her candidacy.  Newt, Herman Cain, and Rick Santorium did well.  John Huntsman and Ron Paul are simply running in the wrong party.

Here's the debate.
