The Gingrich-Huntsman Debate

Monday afternoon, just two days after the ABC Iowa Presidential debate, GOP contenders Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman gathered together for what Gingrich calls the Lincoln-Douglas style debates.  These are notoriously long, but do give us some great insight into the direction these two men want to take the country.  Furthermore, it should be noted that if Newt wins the nomination, he has vowed to challenge President Barack Obama to a series of Lincoln-Douglas style debates in the general election.  Newt says that the President would accept it.  But I doubt it.

One of the things I like about these is that they lack all of the political nonsense so common in debates.  This was not about Newt being a frontrunner and "under the radar" or about Huntsman trying to save his campaign, but about policy and foreign policy.  That is a conversation worth having and too important to allow all of that other nonsense to enter the scene.

Nonetheless, here is the Gingrich-Huntsman debate.
