Saturday night, the six remaining GOP Presidential candidates (missing Michelle Bachmann who dropped out following her poor performance in Iowa and Herman Cain who dropped out weeks ago) met in New Hampshire just days before the second primary.
The debate, to me, was one of the worst I have seen. Admittedly I have not seen every minute of every debate. However, of all of the debates I have watched, this one caricatured media bias. The only question taken from a viewer was an emotional guilt trip regarding the candidates stance against gay marriage. The question itself was full of problematic statements and inconsistencies that I'm not even sure if the questioner really knows what they were really asking. But the candidates, see Newts response at the end of this post, did a good job dealing with it.
I tweeted that it took 75 minutes before the first question regarding the economy was asked. The candidates had spent over an hour talking about gay marriage and whether or not states ought to have the authority to ban contraception. Nonsense! Are these really the issues that voters in New Hampshire and America really care about? There seemed to be some animosity, if not, some dislike from the former Bill Clinton advisor George Stephonopolous. This is what happens, frankly, when Democrats run a Republican debate and the same would happen if a Republican ran a Democrat debate.
Nonetheless the winner throughout was Romney. He had the best answers, didn't get side tracked, focused on Obama, and looked the most qualified. He will undoubtedly win New Hampshire setting up the race to be decided in South Carolina and Florida. Expect Huntsman to be gone following Tuesday's vote and Perry gone after Iowa. That would leave us with Romney, Newt, Santorum, and Paul.

The highlight of the night was this from Newt Gingrich.
GINGRICH: I just want to raise, since we just spent this much time on these issues, I just want to raise a point about the news media bias. You don't hear the opposite question asked. Should the Catholic Church be forced to close its adoption services in Massachusetts because it won't accept gay couples? Which is exactly what the state has done.
Should the Catholic Church be driven out of providing charitable services in the District of Columbia because it won't give in to secular bigotry? Should the Catholic Church find itself discriminated against by the Obama administration in a key delivery of services because of the bias and the bigotry of the administration? The bigotry question goes both ways, and there's a lot more anti-Christian bigotry today than there is concerning the other side, and none of it gets covered by the liberal media .
